What’s involved in the installation of solar panels?

From your first contact with us until installation, we will see to everything for you. The process involves consultation and a tailored quotation, followed by professional installation, and delivery of the whole system.

By producing your own energy at home with your solar system, you use less power from the grid, which significantly reduces your bill. Also, the surplus energy you generate is transported back to the grid which further improves your savings

Not necessarily. However, it will help in increasing the savings potential of your system, since you will get a chance to store excess energy.

Solar panels installed now can last for more than 25 years without any significant degradation. All the systems that we install offer extensive warranties for all the parts.

Our solar panels are built in such a way that they work efficiently in daylight and do not require direct sunlight to work.

The solar systems come with an easy-to-use application that helps you track energy generation, how much it has been used and your savings.

What does the solar panel installation process involve?

Our process starts with understanding your home, energy usage and requirements. We then design a solar and battery solution around your property, provide a detailed quotation and complete the necessary technical assessments and approvals. Once everything is agreed, our qualified installation partners carry out the installation, followed by commissioning, handover and ongoing support.

Most residential installations are completed within 1–2 days, depending on the size and complexity of the system. Once your quotation has been accepted and the necessary checks are complete, we arrange an installation date that is convenient for you.

Yes. We assess your property, roof characteristics, energy consumption and requirements before designing your system. This helps us recommend the appropriate solar panel and battery configuration for your home rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Installations are carried out by fully accredited UK installation partners with experience in residential solar installations. Solar Prime Energy coordinates the installation process and provides support from the initial consultation through to handover.

Yes. Our process includes the relevant technical calculations and approvals required for the installation. Once the system has been installed and commissioned, we provide the relevant documentation as part of the handover process.

Solar Prime Energy works with MCS-certified installation partners. MCS provides recognised standards for renewable energy installations and is an important part of the certification process for eligible UK solar installations.

Warranty coverage depends on the equipment selected for your system. Solar panels, inverters and batteries can have separate manufacturer warranties. Solar Prime Energy also provides long-term warranty protection and an insurance-backed workmanship warranty for installation quality. The specific warranty terms for your chosen products will be detailed in your quotation.

Solar panels supplied through Solar Prime Energy can include long-term manufacturer warranties, with the website currently advertising up to 25 years of warranty coverage for eligible systems. The exact warranty period depends on the products selected and will be confirmed in your proposal.

If you experience an issue with your system, our aftercare team can help identify the problem and guide you through the appropriate next steps. Your system is also supported by applicable manufacturer warranties, while installation work is covered by the relevant workmanship protection.

Solar PV systems are generally low maintenance. We recommend monitoring your system and keeping the panels clear of heavy debris. Solar Prime Energy also provides a scheduled solar health review every two years to help support safety, compliance and continued system efficiency.

Once installation is complete, your system is commissioned and checked before handover. We provide instructions on how to operate and monitor your system, and our support continues after installation through our aftercare service.

How much does a solar panel system cost?

The cost of a solar system varies from home to home. It depends on factors such as your energy consumption, the number of panels required, available roof space, system specification and whether you choose battery storage. Solar Prime Energy provides a tailored estimate based on your property and requirements rather than applying a standard price.

Your savings depend on your electricity usage, system size, solar generation and how much of the electricity you use in your home. Solar Prime Energy states that many households can reduce their electricity bills by 30–50% or more, although actual savings vary between properties.

The payback period depends on the cost and size of your system, your electricity consumption, energy prices, solar generation and whether you have battery storage. Solar Prime Energy currently indicates typical payback periods of around 6–10 years, although your individual return may be different.

Yes. Solar Prime Energy offers finance options, including monthly payment plans, subject to eligibility, status and credit checks. The website states that tailored finance solutions can be available for terms of up to 10 years.

Yes. Depending on your eligibility, you can choose a monthly finance option rather than paying the full installation cost upfront. The available terms and repayment amounts will depend on the finance agreement.

Solar Prime Energy currently offers different ways to pay, including cash payment, finance plans and leasing options. The availability and terms of each option depend on the individual agreement and eligibility.

Yes. When your solar system generates more electricity than your home needs, surplus electricity can be exported to the grid. Eligible homeowners can receive payments for exported electricity through the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG), subject to the requirements and tariff offered by their energy supplier.

Your home uses the electricity generated by your panels first. Any surplus can be stored in a compatible battery for later use or exported to the grid. A battery can therefore help you make greater use of the electricity your solar panels generate.

A battery can help you store surplus solar energy generated during the day and use it later when your panels are producing less electricity. This can increase the amount of your own solar energy you use and reduce your reliance on electricity from the grid.

Generating your own electricity can reduce the amount of energy you need to purchase from the grid. This can reduce your exposure to changes in electricity prices, although your home will still have grid electricity requirements depending on your system and energy usage.

Solar panels can be an attractive feature for homeowners and buyers because they can help reduce electricity costs and may contribute to an improved EPC rating. However, the effect on property value varies between properties and cannot be guaranteed.
